Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1940, Hildegard’s early life instilled in her a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the arts. Her artistic talent blossomed early, evident in her childhood sketches and later, her passion for painting and pottery. This creative spirit would follow her throughout her life, finding expression in her meticulously maintained garden, her vibrant home décor, and even her approach to cooking, which friends often described as a culinary art form.
After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in art history, Hildegard embarked on a career in the publishing industry. Her weekends were frequently spent strolling along the Gordon River Greenway, enjoying the tranquility of the natural landscape. The Naples Art District became a second home, providing a creative outlet and a chance to connect with fellow artists.
Hildegard was a regular at the Mercato Shops, not only for the shopping but for the opportunity to socialize with friends over coffee and pastries. She often took her grandchildren to the Naples Pier, sharing stories of her travels and inspiring a love for the coastal environment. She volunteered at several local organizations, contributing her time and talents to causes she believed in. Hildegard is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Glover; her three children, Eleanor, Thomas, and Katherine; and five grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family first. Her home, situated on a quiet street off Vanderbilt Beach Road, was a gathering place for family and friends, filled with laughter, music, and the aroma of her delicious home-cooked meals. Her children often recall her love for sharing her passion for gardening and her artistic talents with them.

A memorial service celebrating Hildegard’s life will be held at the Naples Botanical Garden on November 9th, 2025, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Naples Botanical Garden in her honor.
